  • Tax Collection

    Tax payments can be mailed to: Town of Bingham, PO Box 652, Bingham, Maine 04920. Payments can be made in the office Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (excluding lunch break from noon to 1 p.m.)

    • The Town of Bingham operates on a fiscal year from February 1 to January 31.
    • Taxes are committed and bills are mailed out at the end of August.
    • Taxes are due September 30th. Interest begins on October 1st.

  • Real Estate Lien Process

    30-day Lien Notices on Taxes go out in mid-April. The Lien will be recorded at the Somerset Registry of Deeds in mid-May (30 days from the Lien Notice). The lien will go into automatic foreclosure 18 months from the date it was recorded with the Registry of Deeds. NOTE: Our Tax Cards are NOT electronic; therefore we can NOT e-mail them.

  • Sewer Collection

    Sewer is billed quarterly. Sewer bills are due 30 days from the billing date (exact date is listed on the bill). January, February, March bill will go out the last of March/first of April and will be due in 30 days, as listed on the bill.

    Unpaid sewer bills will be liened. The lien will go into automatic foreclosure 18 months from the date it was recorded with the Registry of Deeds.

  • Burn Permits

    Online Burn Permits can be obtained by visiting Maine Open Burn Permit.

Motor Vehicles

  • Motor Vehicle Registrations

    Bingham currently does NOT participate in Rapid Renewal Vehicle Registrations.

    • Items to bring when registering a vehicle:
    • Re-Registrations:
    • Proof of Insurance (can be faxed to 207-672-3080)
    • Current Registration
    • Current Vehicle Mileage

  • New/First Time Registrations When Purchased From a Dealer

    • Proof of Insurance (can be faxed to 672-3030)
    • Window Sticker (if vehicle is new)
    • Maine Title Application (blue form)
    • Maine Sales Tax Certificate (green form)
    • Current Vehicle Mileage

    If doing a transfer you will have to bring the current registration of the vehicle you disposed/traded/sold.

  • New/First Time Registrations When From a Private Sale

    • Proof of Insurance
    • Bill of Sale
    • Title (if vehicle is 1995 or newer)
    • Current Vehicle Mileage

    If doing a transfer you will need to bring the current registration of the vehicle you disposed/sold.

  • If Previously Registered to You in Another State:

    • Proof of Insurance
    • Current Registration
    • Title or Lien Holder information (address)
